You Will Be Found

I was inspired to write this post while I was listening to You Will Be Found from Dear Evan Hansen. It’s a Broadway show about a young man named Evan who inspired a movement from something he wrote. I don’t want to give the story away but definitely check it out. It was recently announced that there will be a movie adaptation coming out in September. I’m very excited! It’s not a Christian based play/movie but listening to this song put me in a mind to worship. I had The Hubs come and listen to the song. He’s heard me listening to it off and on or singing a random verse, but he’s never really paid attention. Tonight, I asked him to pay attention and he heard it, too; an underlying message that I had never noticed before. I would say it probably wasn’t the direction the writer was going for, but we all know God doesn’t work that way! The song begins…

“Have you ever felt like nobody was there Have you ever felt forgotten in the middle of nowhere Have you ever felt like you could disappear Like you could fall and no one would hear”

I know I’ve felt that way sometimes. More so when I was young and before finding Christ I definitely felt like I was alone and like I had no one to turn to. No one to open up to and share things that are scary to me or something that hurt my feelings. Things that worry me or even things that are happy in my life. [Side Note: Sometimes we forget that we can share happy things with God. It’s not only when something is going wrong when we can turn to Him] The song continues…

Well, let that lonely feeling wash away Maybe there’s a reason to believe you’ll be okay ‘Cause when you don’t feel strong enough to stand You can reach, reach out your hand”

Now to me that sounds a whole lot like the Word. As Christians when we feel like we can’t stand on our own we know Jesus is there to take our hand. We literally reach out for him…He’s always there. Just waiting.

“And oh, someone will come running And I know they’ll take you home

Jesus is going to take us all home someday

“Even when the dark comes crashing through
When you need a friend to carry you
When you’re broken on the ground
You will be found
So let the sun come streaming in
‘Cause you’ll reach up and you’ll rise again
If you only look around
You will be found”

We all have dark days. We all feel broken sometimes. The beauty though is that we don’t have to stay that way! We have a friend. His name is Jesus. We can call out to Him. We can reach out to Him, and He will find us. And we WILL rise! The sun will come streaming in on those dark days and He will carry us through them! No matter how dark those days get, they will never be too dark for Jesus to shine light and to show us He’s there for us to reach for.

The basis for the song is to convey that we are not alone. Someone is always there if you ask for help. Or seek it out. God is always there. Always. Like I said earlier, if you haven’t seen it or heard the song, then I definitely recommend it!
