As a child I was told ‘Never pray for patience…’. They never said why though. It wasn’t until I was an adult and found a Pentecostal church that I finally got the answer. ‘…because with patience comes trials.’
Those trials, I’ll tell ya. They can be a headache! They are sneaky little buggers!! Just when you think life is going great, BOOM! Instinctually you want to ask God for patience to weather the storm but then you remember those trials and find yourself asking if you prayed for patience inadvertently lol.
So if you can’t pray for patience in this situation, how do you proceed? Below you’ll find some scriptures that might get you through those moments of stormy weather…
Deuteronomy 31:6 – Be strong and of a good courage, fear not, nor be afraid of them: for the LORD thy God, he [it is] that doth go with thee; he will not fail thee, nor forsake thee.
Philippians 4:19 – But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.
2 Corinthians 12:9 – And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.
When you have a few moments, pray and meditate over these few verses.
Be strong. Have faith. Be of good courage.
